Gang Yao is a four-year fully-funded (by China Scholarship Council†) PhD student at the University of Murcia (Spain), and a member of the Spanish Association for Corpus Linguistics (AELINCO). Currently he is doing a research stay at the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain). His research interests include corpus linguistics, Spanish as a Foreign Language, and academic writing. His doctoral thesis is about a comparative corpus-based analysis on metadiscourse of Spanish academic writing.

The present study examines whether there is a statistically significant difference between the DDL approach to vocabulary learning and more traditional learning methods (e.g., dictionary approach) in the context of Spanish as a foreign language (SFL) by Chinese students.
